By GoldAllure, Epicharis was last seen finishing second by a head in the UAE Derby toa late running Thunder Snow. His connections decided to skip the KentuckyDerby, but have been preparing for the Belmont since his last race.
Kentucky Derby runner-up LookinAt Lee will be the lone entrant to run in all three legs of the TripleCrown. He was given morning line odds of 5-1 and will depart from post six. Theson of Lookin At Lucky returns from a fourth place run in the Preakness Stakes.Steve Asmussen has called on Irad Ortiz, Jr. to ride, who last year teamed withAsmussen to win the Belmont aboard Creator.
Tapwrit is 6-1 on themorning line and breaks from the two-hole. The grey son of Tapit last won three starts ago in the TampaBay Derby, where he drew off to win by 4 ½ lengths. After breaking slowly andfinishing fifth in the Blue Grass Stakes, Tapwrit overcame traffic problems to runa respectable sixth in the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Todd Pletcher keeps JoseOrtiz in the irons.
Fan-favorite, one-eyed Patch drew post 12,the far outside. Patch also broke from the farthest post in the Kentucky Derby, where he finished 14th.
ClassicEmpire was withdrawn from the Belmont this morning due to a right front hoofabscess. The 2016 Juvenile Champion and Preakness Stakes runner-up was theexpected favorite.
