Betting on the Spread

In addition to betting win, loss or draw bets, you can also bet on the spread. The spread is what experts think needs to be adjusted to make the two teams even. For example, if the experts think that Team A should beat Team B by 1.5 goals, then Team B will have a +1.5 spread and Team A will have a -1.5 spread. With that being said, you can also bet on each team to cover the spread. Sticking with the example above, if you bet the Team B spread then Team B would have to lose by 1 goal, draw, or win in order for your bet to be successful. On the other hand, if you bet on Team A's spread, Team A would have to win by 2 goals in order for your bet to be successful. The money line associated with each spread choice is much different than the money line associated with a straight win, loss or draw bet as the likelihood of each outcome is much different.

Another way to bet on soccer is to make prop bets. Prop bets are short for the term proposition bets and are a more specific way to bet on a soccer game. Prop bets are a broad category of specific bets that have to do with a particular game. For example, if you think that Player A on Team A is going to score a goal in the upcoming game, you can bet that Player A will score.

Prop bets are unique because most of them do not concern the final outcome of the game, they instead concern a specific player or specific event. Each prop bet has a money line associated with it that is based on the likelihood of that specific event happening according to experts. Since these props bets are very specific, the money lines associated with them are typically very high and positive.
